100 Things About Me

  1. I have tiny hands for someone my height (5′9″).
  2. I’m always cold.
  3. When I’m super cold my nail beds turn a blue-ish purple.
  4. Yes, I know that’s gross.
  5. I don’t drink coffee but am addicted to caffeine.
  6. I feed my addiction with Diet Coke.
  7. I’m also addicted to Chapstick. The medicated kind.
  8. I’ve never smoked a cigarette.
  9. I hate the smell.
  10. I have smoked pot, but not since college.
  11. I wasn’t in a sorority.
  12. My college boyfriend was in a fraternity.
  13. I went to all their formals and parties.
  14. It definitely wasn’t my thing.
  15. When I was a kid, I was on a tv commercial for a local tv weatherman.
  16. The commercial was set in a classroom and I was a student. The teacher was previously on a Fruit Roll-Ups commercial.
  17. When I was in first grade I cut a chunk out of my own hair and blamed it on the class troublemaker. He got in trouble until I fessed up.
  18. I’m still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
  19. As a kid, I wanted to be an advertising exec like Angela Bower on Who’s The Boss?.
  20. I speak enough French to get around France with no problem.
  21. I’m okay at cooking, but great at baking.
  22. I love my KitchenAid mixer.
  23. My favorite color is purple.
  24. When I was a kid it was green.
  25. I have naturally curly hair that half the time I wear straight.
  26. The curly/straight thing confuses people. Especially men.
  27. I’m Jewish.
  28. I’m not particularly observant.
  29. I went to Hebrew school and had a Bat Mitzvah.
  30. I want to marry a Jewish guy.
  31. I want to raise children (when I have them) Jewish.
  32. I have really cool parents.
  33. They’ve been married for more than 35 years.
  34. I have one sister, she’s four years younger than me.
  35. She’s cool too.
  36. I volunteer as a Big Sister.
  37. My Little is wise beyond her 13 years.
  38. I live in Los Angeles.
  39. And like it.
  40. When I’m nervous I turn red.
  41. I hate blood and needles and anything medical related, but I am fascinated by real life emergency room shows on tv.
  42. I tend to faint when I have blood drawn.
  43. I’m perpetually single.
  44. And hate it.
  45. I’ve tried online dating and have the horror stories to prove it.
  46. A few years ago I found a wedding registry that belonged to a guy I was dating at the time. When I confronted him about it, he denied even being engaged.
  47. Then I emailed his fiancee and suddenly he remembered the engagement.
  48. I have a propensity for dating unemployed comics/writers/actors. Which is really weird considering I crave stability.
  49. I’m terrified of being single forever.
  50. Many of my girlfriends have paired up. Permanently.
  51. My best friend is married with two adorable kids.
  52. I’m always looking for new (single) girlfriends.
  53. Sometimes I get jealous when I see young couples with babies.
  54. I love dogs.
  55. I’m so not a cat person.
  56. I’m always prompt and hate being late.
  57. I’m a very picky eater.
  58. I have a major sweet tooth.
  59. I love chocolate.
  60. I hate whipped cream.
  61. And most other white fluffy foods. (Cottage cheese, sour cream, etc.) Ick.
  62. I’m a baseball fan.
  63. When Detroit won the World Series in ‘84, I had pictures of Kirk Gibson plastered on my wall.
  64. Then I asked him for his autograph and was denied.
  65. I cried.
  66. I’m from Michigan originally.
  67. We moved to San Diego when I was 11.
  68. My favorite season is autumn.
  69. I introduced my sixth grade class to Depeche Mode when I brought the People Are People tape with me to Sixth Grade Camp.
  70. I’m great at remembering lyrics to songs.
  71. But I’m horrible at remembering the titles.
  72. I love music.
  73. I’m a horrible singer.
  74. I sing in my car.
  75. Most of the time, I sing along to soundtracks to musicals.
  76. I know all the words to the movie Grease.
  77. I’m a letter writer.
  78. I’ve received lots of free stuff that way.
  79. Even a computer.
  80. I hate poor customer service.
  81. And poor spelling.
  82. I think poetic license is a wonderful thing.
  83. I say It’s all good a lot.
  84. I can fall asleep in a car or on an airplane with no problem.
  85. I like my bedroom to be pitch black when I go to bed.
  86. When I sleep, my eyes don’t close all the way.
  87. I have super long eyelashes and am often asked if they’re real.
  88. I’m very nosy and ask a ton of questions.
  89. I figure if someone doesn’t want to answer, they won’t.
  90. My favorite nail polish color is I’m Not Really A Waitress by OPI.
  91. I usually only wear polish on my toes.
  92. When I was a teenager, I stubbed my big toe and the entire nail lifted up and had to be removed. It was beyond gross. And yes, it grew back just fine.
  93. I wore glasses starting at age 5, contacts at age 12, then had LASIK in my 20s.
  94. My dad is an optometrist.
  95. My mom was a social worker then quit working to stay home with me and my sister. She now runs my dad’s practice.
  96. I can read for hours at a time.
  97. I’ve been in a book club with an amazing group of women for the past three years. It folded in 2006.
  98. I’m dying to learn to snowboard.
  99. But I’m a total klutz.
  100. I remember random pieces of information that come in handy while watching Jeopardy or talking to my sister or on a boring date.
