Weekend Stuff

After all of my busy weekends, I was really looking forward to relaxing and getting stuff done this weekend. I am happy to say that I accomplished most of what I wanted to do! I:

  • Spent Friday night being a lazy bum.
  • Slept until 10:45 on Saturday, and woke up to the most bizarre dream (nightmare?) involving HWDNES.
  • Went to the dry cleaners and somehow got into a conversation with the owner about weddings and my singledom, and was told, “You 34? You have to marry soon.” Nice. Everyone is concerned about my marital status, isn’t that kind of them? Not really.
  • Went to the bank and drugstore where no one cared that I was sans ring. Yay for Bank of America and CVS! Or something.
  • Got spray tanned. What an experience and I don’t even want to know how many chemicals I inhaled while attempting to hold my breath for the 45 second spray. My skin is pretty much still white, but my knee caps are a little tan. Not exactly the look I was going for.
  • Did laundry.
  • Bought a necklace and a shawl for the dress I’m wearing to Randi’s wedding next week. Now I just need a cute purse and I’ll be all set.
  • Watched half of A Lawyer Walks Into a Bar when the DVD stopped working. This is the first bad DVD I’ve ever had from Netflix.
  • Yummy!Went to Nanette’s baby shower. Had a blast chatting with her super sweet friends while avoiding the biggest flying beetle-ish thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Nanette looks so cute and I can’t wait to meet the baby! Also, I must point out Jenn made the best desserts and favors ever ever ever.

Now I’m going to attempt to make a pizza, using Trader Joe’s pizza dough and sauce and lots of veggies. Yum.

In other news, I have a Jdate tomorrow night and he does eat sweets. Think good thoughts.

One nice thing about being a guy: nobody ever feels the need to comment on your marital status. Sorry you have to endure that.

I hope you’ll post about the Trader Joe’s dough; I’ve been curious to try it.

Good luck tomorrow!

Ohhhh I love the Trader Joe’s dough and pizza sauce!!!

And *&^% to all who randomly comment on marital status. Not everyone WANTS to be married. (That’s what I tell em when they ask me, cause, um, I DON’T want to get married)

HA HA

Just say no to Spray Tans! Next time, simply go to the beach…after all, it’s still Summer, and maybe you’ll meet a cute boy/man :)

How was the Pizza?!

I have it on good authority that Mr. J-date Loves tanned knees. Just tanned knees. It’s the newest kink. Or so the Enquirer will tell us soon… Cheers & Good Luck, ‘VJ’

You’re the bee’s knees! (I know… groan… har har har…)

Do tell about the pizza, and sweet good-luck thoughts for tonight’s JDate.

Don’t worry, don’t rush. I remember an early job I had, and the Latino guy I worked with would give me unsolicited advice in Spanish: Cabron, necesitas casarte. (Dude, you need to get married.) 15 years later, I’m finally taking his advice.

I used to get all kinds of marital advice when I was single! For the most part, I ignored it (or made sarcastic remarks), and things worked out. Maybe you should rent the classic movie “Marty.”

Speaking of movies, I’ve gotten my share of bad discs from Netflix. It tends to happen to the new and popular ones. Did you try cleaning off the disc to see if it would work better? Sometimes that helps.

Good luck with your date!

How did this even come up at the dry cleaner?

I took my new dress in because there was makeup on it (oops) and asked if I could pick it up by Tuesday because I need to wear it to a wedding. And she asked me if I was getting married (in a blue dress?!) and I said no, and then she asked if I was married, then she asked how old I was…

Until you break down and buy/adopt/steal cats, I’d say there’s still hope for you on the marital front.

What the hell was that beetle thing?

Jenn did it attack you too?

I was attacked by one of those beetles at the post office today. The clerk told me it was a “Japanese Beetle”. It was huge. It landed on the window sill upside down. I tried catching it (bare-handed) to put it outside but it flipped over and flew away. I wasn’t going to chase it around …

On the married thing. Although I never particularly wanted to get married, I became engaged at 34 … to the wrong man. We split up last winter. I hurt for a few months, healed and moved on. My sister pushed me to join eHarmony. I was reluctant BUT!!! I met a fantastic man who has all the qualities I wanted and then some and we are now engaged. I am 36 but we won’t be getting married for a year so I will be 37. Don’t give up hope - there are indeed good men still out there.

Oh, and I have two cats too. ;-)
