Thursday Things

For those of you following along at home, I ended up buying these silver shoes (Jessica and Marissa, do you approve?) and I love them and can’t wait to wear them. And, they’re only a 2 1/4″ heel so a) I won’t tower over everyone and b) I won’t fall on my ass.

My Jdate was…nice. He was polite, kind, and a gentleman, but we had absolutely nothing to talk about aside from our jobs, our dinner, and…traffic. And when you’re talking about traffic on a date, that’s not a good sign. I must note that the restaurant he chose–Katsuya in Hollywood– was fantastic. The service, food, and cocktails were all phenomenal. And no, we didn’t have any celebrity sightings.

Monday morning as I was sitting at a stoplight in Beverly Hills, a huge swarm of bees surrounded my car. I am terrified of bees, and seeing dozens of them all over my windows freaked me out. Thankfully, none of them got in my car. But ugh.

Chocolate Chip Cupcake/Muffin/CookieIn baking news, I made Chocolate Chip Cupcake/Muffin/Cookies. They were a huge hit at the office.
- - -
I had an allergy medicine related ENT appointment (side note: can you believe it’s been a year and a half since my tonsillectomy?) and he suggested I get a CT scan of my septum and think about getting it fixed. I made an appointment for the CT and will have my uncle read the scan, but I am in absolutely no rush to have another surgery.

EB72 was right, this is the bug that attacked us at Nanette’s shower. At the time, the thing looked like it was the size of my head.

Now that the Olympics are over I’ve been sleeping a lot more. Or at least trying to, when my asshole-music-blasting-drum-playing-neighbor in the building next door isn’t keeping me awake. The music and drums are so loud that I can hear it with my windows closed and I’ve left numerous polite notes but he just doesn’t care. Does anyone know how to find the building owner’s contact information so I can write a letter? It doesn’t appear they have a building manager on site or a building management company, so I can’t go that route. I’m beyond tired of coming home from work and hearing drums until 3 a.m.

I’m taking today and tomorrow off of work (yay!) and am heading down to SD at some point for the long weekend. I hope everyone has a great one!

This week’s question: If you had to choose between eating only green colored foods for an entire year or going without Internet for four months, which would you choose and why?

I can’t go without Internet for four MINUTES, so whatever the other choice is, I’d take it.

As for finding the management company of the building, do you ever see anyone who lives in that building? If so, ask them for the info. If you need to make up some story (I’d have to), just say that your friend is looking for an apartment to rent and wants to know who to talk to.

Have a GREAT weekend!!!!

I love those shoes.

Those shoes are so cute! What made you decide to chose those over the gunmetal-colored shoes? Are you going to get a matching purse too?

I seriously know what you mean about the bees. I actually got stung by one in my hand a few years ago. This bee was hiding underneath a crate that I was helping to lift off a truck.

I would chose eating green-colored foods. It’s healthier. :)

Those shoes are uber cute! and you cannot go wrong with that price… Can you find me a pair to match my betsey johnson dress please? I figure youve put in the hard yards and have research experience…

Totally green coloured foods. Net addict.

The shoes are terrific! Live without internet for four months? Don’t think I could do that.

That bug was most certainly NOT invited to my shower! Eek!

Also, can you call you the cops about your neighbor?

Have you tried leaving a note for the drum-playing neighbor with a box of cup cakes? You may have better luck?

Or why not leave a note for another neighbor in his building about it and see if they will help contacting the management. I’m sure it’s bothering them as well.

I’d have to go with green foods, as I’m currently not working and the internet is my only hope for finding a job!

I like veggies and need my internet to work, so…there you go!

Thumbs up on the shoes — I think you’ll end up wearing those a LOT.

Hil, I’ve had the septoplasty done and it was four days of vicodin relief. After that it was like having a head cold for a week. Finally, after that last round, it was worth it. I breathe SO much better and get a better nights sleep as well. Feel free to drop me a line if you’d like to know more. And I have recovery pics on the blog (July/August ‘07)

The shoes I LOVE!!! I have a very similiar pair in the closet.

Green colored food for a year. Why? I typically love green foods anyway: fresh veggies and the what not. Just don’t make me eat bell peppers, then I’d be done for.

Green food? Okay if I get the Internet.

Cute shoes. Very simple and just right.

I have a neighbor with a yippy barking dog that goes for hours — like 10:30 to midnight solid barking. I am having evil thoughts about what I can throw at him or over the fence. And I love dogs — just not the constant noise of this dog going on and on and on, same pitch, same screech. ARGH! It must be very similar with drums over and over and over.

as usual, jessica beats me to it. shoes are great, I’d eat green foods (mostly happily) over losing the internet, and you can see who owns a property thru propertyshark.com. registration is free, you just need to know the address. I use all the time to stalk. I mean, conduct research for curbed. let me know if you need some help with it. if that doesn’t work, you can go to city hall to check building records, but that’s a schlep.

I am curious about your decision to attach “asshole” to the rest of your hyphenated chain of words. Does “asshole music” refer to farting? Music for assholes? If the latter, literal ones or figurative?

Perhaps it’s the soundtrack from Mike Judge’s Idiocracy, which I understand refers to a movie called Ass, which is just some 90 minutes of an ass farting on screen.

Asshole music, indeed!

Sarah is right — contact the Prop. Management Co. about Little Drummmer Boy.

I love dogs, but once had a prob with a barking dog too. So I left a note on the door & contacted the Prop Mngmnt Co. Barking Dog stopped within 24 hrs!

Pox: easy with the ‘fart-talk’ it kinda stinks!

Hill: good question! I eat green everyday…and I have a need for the Internet everyday! Can’t I have a little of both? :)

Ok, that is a very weird question. I would totally give up the internet. Only green foods…no way!

Why don’t you just call the police the next time he’s playing his drums at 3am? They’ll issue a warning followed by (if you have to call them again) a ticket with a (hefty) fine. That ought to make him reconsider his rehearsal hours.

I’ve called the police, but since I live in Hollywood they have more important things to take care of (shootings, robberies, you get the idea) so it usually takes them a few hours to come over. :(

Hill: go to one of the other tenants that live in Little Drummer Boys building (odds are they have a problem with 2 AM drum sessions too) ask them whose the building Manager or who they write their rent checks to. If Little Drummer Boy’s Father doesn’t own the building, they should be able to stop the madness. Also, go to the police & file a Disturbing the Peace Complaint — at least that’ll get something on file. Good Luck

Honestly, I suspect the neighbor is an uphill battle. Have you tried a white noise machine? I love mine.
