Thursday Things

Can anyone recommend where to get cute khakis? The ones I’ve been trying on kinda suck.

I noticed that the earthquake IM screen shot I posted on Flickr had close to 1000 hits, and when I looked in my stats, found out it had been linked to by a USA Today blog. Kinda cool.

Last night, Ryan, one of my best friends from college, was in town for business. He came over and we Ryan and Me, 2008walked to Vivoli where we had a delicious dinner and caught up for more than three hours then came back to my apartment and talked some more. He’s spending the next couple of days in the Valley visiting old fraternity brothers, but if he sticks around for the weekend, we’re definitely going to get together again. While we chatted, we realized that although we’ve kept in touch via email and Facebook and such, the last time we saw each other in person was 10 years ago. Insane! We made a promise to not let that happen again.

In TV news, what a crappy episode of The Mole (is anyone else still watching, or am I alone?). And Adam from The Next Food Network Star got his own show. Huh? He didn’t win. Also, I haven’t watched Project Runway yet so please no spoilers.
- - -
In NetFlix news, I cried my way through The Kite Runner which was just as good as the book (total rarity). Next up, A Lawyer Walks into a Bar, a documentary about the legal system that follows six prospective attorneys getting ready for the bar.

Have I mentioned how crazy busy work is? Oh, I have, huh? Well, it is absolutely nuts. And to top it off, a week from tomorrow I’ll know if I’ll have a job. Yeah, no stress.
- - -
This weekend, aside from visiting a pastry school (yep, I’m finally doing it!), I have nothing planned. Absolutely nothing. I am so excited. Wow, I feel old.

That’s it. I’ve been really busy and haven’t been jotting stuff down for my Thursday post. Sorry.

This week’s question: What bad habit of your own would you like to change?

That’s totally cool about the USA Today link.

Ryan looks like a real cutie. :)

YAY for pastry school. Let us know how that goes!

I’d like to be able to change my obsessive behavior about a lot of thing. I’m borderline OCD, I think. I drive Jeremy nuuuuuuts with some of my shtick. And I drive myself nuts with the rest of it.

Hilary,

You are beautiful.

… first thought that struck me when I saw the photo of you and Ryan.

I don’t have any bad habits I’d like to change. I do have an addicition to Diet Coke and I tend to overuse ( )’s but I am not too interested in changing either at the moment. heheheh

Have a great weekend!

Oh Ryan, I remember being a little girl thinking he was so cute, with his long hair. ha

My bad habit that I would change would be my obsession with food. I wish I could stop eating after one cookie!

Have fun a pastry school, do you get to bake anything? or just walk thru?

You quit your job?!

I may be unemployed come next Friday, so if I am, I’ll drive down to SD. But lets hope I’m not.

My bad habit? It’s procrastinating. I want to do something about it, but I keep putting it off.

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

My other bad habit is that I keep making lots of bad jokes. I’m not doing a thing about that!

That lawyer documentary looks interesting. Is it recent? Yeah, I know, I can check it out on Netflix myself. Heck, my queue is only 290 or so movies long anyway!

Best of luck with the job.

“And to top it off, a week from tomorrow I’ll know if I’ll have a job.”

I read this as:

“And to top it off, a week from tomorrow I’ll know if I’ll have a NEW job.”

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you that everything goes the way you want it to.

I think it’s harder to find cute khakis because they’ve kind of become uniform-y feeling for a lot of people, post Gap-Everybody-In-Khakis! phase, and therefore no one is putting a real effort into designing them. J Crew is probably your best bet. I find Club Monaco also tends to have some.

Wow, that legal documentary sounds cool–never heard of that before.

I’d like to change my spending and eating habits. I’m good about doing that for a limited amount of time, but always fall off the wagon. I need a true lifestyle change. :) Also creating a good exercise habit.

have you tried jcrew’s pants? I haven’t bought them in a few years, but their chinos were always well cut, flattering, reasonably priced and come in petite and tall. I’m not sure exactly what you’re looking for in the way of “khakis” but jcrew might fit the bill.

bad habits: procrastination. nail biting. reading perez hilton. overanalyzing. dating bad boys.

I quit smoking almost 8 years ago. So I no longer have any bad habits. Not one. I have achieved perfection. Actually I have a few not constructive habits, but not a single one can cause cancer. So no worries. Fingers crossed for your continued gainful employment.

Bad habit? I have one that I am working on — hitting the gas pedal. I am a jackrabbit off the line sort of driver. (I am very aware wastes my precious over-$4/gallon gas. I also go through the brakes pretty fast.)

So I am going to be more Zen like in my driving. Yessssssss.

Project Runway, you haven’t missed a thing. But Michael Kors is apparently having a good time!

Pastry school, yeah!

Although my wardrobe is all black, I ventured out and bought some khakis, $5 at Jcrew. You heard me. Five freakin’ dollars. Awesome.

Very cool on the link and the huge hit count. Hope things work out on the job front (having been there before, I know that stress well). And, seriously, isn’t it great when friendships pick right up even after years of not seeing each other?

I am not a Khaki person but found some pants that happened to be khaki at Ann Taylor and love them. The key to their great look, they have no side pockets, just front slits that are parallel to the waist, and are medium low rise. I LOVE them, but have to admit I bught them a few years ago. So, really, that was probably no help.

Love the dress! Try finding shoes at piperlime.com and if you have a Banana Card you earn points so that’s an extra plus.

My bad habit: stressing out way too easily
