Weekend Stuff

Yet another fun and productive weekend! Random stuff:

  • Did some damage at Banana Republic. The first top I got in lime, the second in black.
  • Saw Mamma Mia with Jen at the Landmark theater at Westside Pavilion. Interesting notes: 1. Some idiot couple brought their baby who cried the entire time. Annoying. 2. The movie was amazing and translated so well to film. 3. The entire theater busted out laughing when Pierce Brosnan starting singing; it was amusing. 4. I saw a bunch of people dressed in Batman attire walking around the lobby.
  • Made chocolate peanut butter fudge to take to work.
  • The finished productSpent seven hours putting together the stupid sideboard for my dining area. Lost one of the pieces and now one of the doors won’t close. Now I need to call Ikea and see if I can order one weird screw/nail thing.
  • I have a reader in Toowoomba, Australia. Every time I see the name in my stats, that annoying Chumbawumba song gets stuck in my head.
  • Went to Surfas to buy some stuff for the showers I’m baking for next weekend.
  • Went to Trader Joe’s where I bumped into Will.
  • Came home and collapsed

One of these weekends I’ll actually relax.

In other news, I watched Jesus Camp last week. What a scary movie! I felt so badly for those kids. Next up in the NetFlix queue is The Kite Runner–I read the book but never got around to seeing the movie.

In other, other news, I turned my car on last week and there was a wrench on the dashboard. Apparently that means it’s time for some sort of maintenance (this time, my first oil change). How cool is that?

And in Crazy Cupcake Lady news, check out what one of her supporters is saying. Uhh yeah.

I love that feature of the Honda’s. It was even in my old ‘97 Accord.

I get to see Mama Mia next weekend, very excited.

The Kite Runner is fantastic. One of my favourite movies. Those little kids are brilliant!

Re: CCL Supporter

“I got robbed at gunpoint last night..”

is it bad that I laughed at that? given the other insanity she was spouting?? I’m terrible. I love the CCL drama!

YAY for you getting your sideboard! It looks very schmick… i need to get some of those S hooks to hang up all my surfas crap…

you should have told me in advance you were going, i could have placed an order ;)

In other news, if i could submit a thought to the crowd - recently alot of lacklustre insults ive seen have been along the lines of “you probably dont even have a husband or kids”. When did marrying yourself off and allowing yourself to become impregnanted become the yardstick of success?

PS - LOhan shops trader joes - do they have a lesbian isle?

My Favorite Part of the CCL Supporter’s Rant is when she Criticizes You For Writing About Her On The Internet, On The Internet. This is sort of like when Bloggers Complain About Blogging On Their Blog.

Hold on…I have to Text Message Someone A Text To Tell Them I Hate Text Messages.

Cute tops! I did WAY more damage than appropriate (or anticipated) at the Nordstrom sale with my mom today. Two shirts, a blazer/jacket (I never know what to call those but blazer sounds very ’80s and jacket sounds like what you wear when it’s cold), a pair of jeans, and a sweater. Ouch! But yay for my closet!

I think you did a great job putting that piece of furniture together.

I saw Mamma Mia, too, and this: “The entire theater busted out laughing when Pierce Brosnan starting singing; it was amusing.” is almost word-for-word what I’ve said to every person I’ve told about it. :) Also, in the theater I went to, it was probably 60% gay guys and 40% women. The guys behind us were singing every song. Funny!

Just looking at CCL’s supporter’s post made my head hurt. I figured reading it could result in a fullblown migraine. So I didn’t.

I saw Mamma Mia Friday night. Cute, though I was annoyed by Donna’s utter incompetence as an innkeeper. At one rather dull point in movie, I thought maybe Lorelai Gilmore should drop in and give her some pointers. Brady Bunch fans, take note: Christine Baranski (the tall, bobbed Dynamo)was Paula in the slumber party episode of the Brady Bunch.

So did anyone buy the movie rights to “Crazy Cupcake Lady” yet? LOL

If you have an identical sxcrew/nail part for the sideboard, maybe you can take it to your favorite hardware/home improvement store to see if you can find something identical. It would save you time in ordering from IKEA!

So is “Mama Mia” a babysitter-worthy movie? My wife wants to see it for a “date night,” but the newspaper reviews were not as good as for “Dark Knight.” The latter is probably not her genre, though (though DK is playing at the IMAX Theater at Air and Space).

Today’s Wall Street Journal has a “Who Killed the Electric Car?” update. According to the guy who brought it to GM, it was economics.

Just to give you another side of the equation here.

My boss took our whole dept to see DK on Friday at 10 AM (yes, I DO have the coolest job) ;) and I didn’t have a chance to see Mamma Mia this weekend, but I can’t wait. It’s my favorite Broadway show.

Haha!
I am officially delurking to tell you and Amity that the Pierce Brosnan thing happened when I saw Mama Mia in Saint Louis too! My main gay and I couldn’t stop laughing at how awkwardly intense he was! Oh, the bulging veins in his neck…

I saw Dark Knight Friday, but one of my friends went to the midnight showing, in costume. The manager was so impressed he refunded his money. Going to see Mamma Mia soon.

I couldn’t even read CCL supporter’s message. Too many caps.

re: IKEA - our IKEA has a box near customer service with odds and ends and extra sets of directions - they should have what little pieces you need on hand there!

On the plus side of all this — I don’t think I’ll ever want to eat a cupcake again. H — do you think you could next rile up a crazy cheesecake lady with ranting, unstable friends? (Like you, Jenn!)

If you ever do the Ikea thing again, give me a ring. Putting that stuff together is kinda fun. :)

I agree with you on “Jesus Camp”. I also thought it was a really well made film. There wasn’t too much obvious manipulation, people were just filmed saying and doing their thing…

Jesus Camp had me in fits.

Now, I am all for the Jesus-loving, but there comes a point where love should never equate to fear. When children who don’t even know how a baby is conceived are painfully praying to Jesus to make the baby-killing (abortions) stop… I just broke down. Those children can never have a true sense of what it is to be a loving Christian and to really follow the message Jesus tried to create, Son-of-God or not. It makes me so sad that they may never know how to think for themselves and receive messages from all faiths.

Kite-Runner is very, very good. Thought provoking.

Oh, and Crazy Cupcake Lady is simply that - crazy. She needs to validate herself in every way to make herself feel better. If she would spend more time on her delicious creations instead of justifying how she made them or any other part of her life in her obviously daily rants, she could win a Nobel Peace Prize. Too much energy wasted.
