Thursday Things

I know I haven’t been posting much, but I’ve been busy and have some things I’m not quite ready to spill on the blog. Could I be more vague? Possibly. Anyway…

I am loving my Blackberry Curve. It’s so fun. And I finally successfully removed that stupid “Sent from my Blackberry…” message.

In random news, tomorrow I am going to the dermatologist to have every mole on my body looked at. I have a feeling he is going to remove quite a few, and I’m hoping it won’t hurt too badly. Did I mention my doctor met his wife through a girl he went on a Jdate with? Perhaps I should stay in better contact with the NGNC ones I’ve met.
- - -
The other night, I took my broken strand of three year old pearls to the jewelry store to have them restrung. I was informed that you’re supposed to get them restrung every year. Who knew?
- - -
In TV news, what is up with Law & Order? My Tivo has only picked up SVU, but not the other franchises. Are they ever coming back? And by the way, how awesome is Elodie from The Hills? And how disappointed was I with Top Chef? I totally wanted Dale to win. Also, is anyone else watching Sunset Tan or Beauty and the Geek or am I the only one watching crap TV?
- - -
Tonight Karrin and I are going to see Superbad, I’m excited! Has anyone seen it?
- - -
In blog related news, are there any Wordpress experts out there? I need help with my installation. Please please please.

This week’s question: If you could make your current salary doing any job, what would it be and why?

Hi Hilary,

I’m hooked on sunset tan and normally I dont go for shows like that. It’s terrible but I can’t seem to pick up the remote to switch it.

I’m also mad that what about Brian never came back. So many unanswered questions.

Hi Hillary,

Law and Order: CI is debuting new episodes tonight on the USA network. NBC did not want to broadcast all three series on its own network, so it placed CI on USA because it had the lowest ratings of all the Law and Order series. I’m glad they didn’t cancel it outright, since I like watching Chris Noth as Detective Mike Logan (and I can’t wait for the Sex and the City movie!)

I hope that your surprise is good news!

P.S. I think your problems with Jdate may stem from the following experiences I had with two separate men I met online in New York. I created a profile in which I stated that “since my friends had had great success with this site, I decided to try this website even though I am not Jewish.” Two of the men who I met for a first date casually started asking me what I planned to do for the High Holidays. I reminded them that I am not Jewish, and they both immediately announced, “Wow, I didn’t know that! That’s great! All Jewish women are b*itches” The first time this happened I was stunned into silence. The second time I was able to regain enough composure to ask him why on earth he would spend money to join JDate if he did not like Jewish girls. He calmly informed me that he figured all of the girls on the other dating sites were crazy. The saddest part was that both of these men had sisters. They probably had no idea why I refused to return their phone calls asking for a second date.

SUPERBAD is so good. I have it on dvd if you want to watch it again, it’s that funny.

Casey really messed up last night and Dale DEF should have won. I was so bummed, I kinda love him. Not like I love Sam from Season 2, but still love Dale.

And you know I watch all those lame shows, I realized last night I am addicted to tv. It sucks and I don’t know how to break it!!! Any suggestions?

Hilary,

I’m decent with WP. Just let me know.

If I had a choice, I would like to become a great metrologist. Working as a machine shop QC inspector has been fun and I’m learning something new everyday. I discovered this occupation by accident and really enjoy it. I guess depending who you are, if you find a line of work that you really enjoy and if it seems more like play than it is work, it’s definitely a keeper!

I’ve had loads of moles removed. It’s not at all painful. A little uncomfortable, but no big deal.

Oh yeah on the moles, I have had 4 removed, it doesn’t hurt at all. Just don’t take a whiff when they are cauterizing it, smelling your own skin burn is the worst thing ever!!!!

I’m dying to see Superbad!!!!! But with the packing up of the house and the imminent move, it looks like it’ll be on DVD before I’m ready to sit and devote a couple of hours to relaxation.

My ideal job, for whatever salary, is to be a book editor. I’d love to be paid just to sit on my couch and read but, knowing that’s not feasible and that I’d have to do something more than that to earn my pay, I’d edit.

Superbad is hilarious. I saw it sunday night. But make sure you use the bathroom before you settle in for the movie…otherwise pants wetting may ensue…not that i’m talking from experience or anything…erm. Anyway! You know what other crap TV is excellent? The Biggest Loser. So good.

Somebody else already said it, but they moved Criminal Intent to one of the other channels. (I thought it was Bravo, but I guess it’s USA.) I’m sad without my Vincent D. :( I’m not sure what’s up with “regular” L&O, though. I kind of stopped watching it when they moved it to Fridays last season anyway. (I’d see the random episode if I happened to be home.) I fell asleep halfway through the season premier of SVU, which just makes me sad, ’cause I was excited to see Cynthia Nixon.

Yeah, I’m disappointed that Hung one. I was voting for Casey, but she did screw that finale up. :( Then I hoped for Dale, but really I didn’t think he deserved it for his overall performance–mostly just for the finale.

If I could make this money (and have the benefits and the hours/schedule), I would totally be a caterer, or something in the restaurant biz. However, to make this money in restaurants takes a lot more hours (and weekends!) than I’m willing to give, and I love me some vacation time! :)

Dude, I really should read the preview first, since Hung “won.” Sorry!

Elodie - SHE ROCKS! I loved the look on Heidi’s face when she said, “What do you mean she quit?”

Top Chef - TOTALLY agree. At least Hung wasn’t as bad as last years Marcel.

Question - I’d be a professional gift wrapper. My dream is to open a store where you could have your gifts wrapped in awesome papers, fabrics, or any other interesting container I could come up to place a gift.

This is a little off topic, but I wanted to let you know that I made those cookie dough brownies (with raspberry creme-dark chocolate chips in the cookie dough layer) for my son’s first grade class. Everyone loved them! Thanks.

As far as jobs: Well, I could do the same one I have now, but in a lower cost of living area. The other dream job is to be the person who comes up with new area codes to spring on the unsuspecting public. I wonder how they decide what number to use? Anyway, *I* want to do that!

Good luck with the dermatologist!

Hi Hilary-

I’m sick today (sore throat ugh!) and I spent most of the day reading your site. I have no idea how I found it but I’m glad I did. And, as another Hillary (two ls), I feel like the only people who call me Hil are not my good friends. Strange. Anyway, your blog is great and a very accurate non-industry view of Los Angeles (I live in Los Feliz). Thanks.
