Thursday Things

Not much to report, this has been a short yet stressful week. Anyway…

Lots of traveling coming up! SD next week and again the following week for Rosh Hashana then Yom Kippur. Then off to the Bay Area for a weekend in November to visit a high school friend. Then I’m heading to Texas for Thanksgiving and am super excited because I’ll finally meet my two cousins’ babies!

Sunday night is date number four with FG. I don’t know what we’re doing yet, but I really hope he doesn’t suggest drinks again. Three drink dates is more than enough.
- - -
Last night I slept with my windows open instead of the AC on for the first time in weeks. Thank god the heat wave is finally over, at least for now.
- - -
In TV news, The Hills was kinda boring this week and to my disappointment, no one said O-M-G or W-T-F. Bummer. Top Chef on the other hand, was awesome! I’m not going to miss Howie whatsoever, and I’m still rooting for CJ and Dale, what about you?

If you live in LA and know of any full time writing or web content type jobs, please shoot me an email. Thanks!

This week’s question: If you had a free round trip ticket good for anywhere in the U.S., where would you go and why?

Right now, I’d like a ticket home so that I can let my mom just baby me. I need it.

Also, Texas for Thanksgiving…Is that Houston by chance?

I have an email in to our lead web content guy at work, I’ll let you know if anything pans out!

As for this week’s question, I’d go up to WA to see The Fireman. LDRs kinda suck :(

Yay for going to Texas to meet your cousins’ babies! That sounds like it will be fun.

I think that I would fly to Philadelphia to visit my niece and nephews. They are growing up so fast and I feel like I rarely get to spend time with them any more. It has been to long since I went to Chuck E. Cheese :-)

Houston and Austin! I’ll keep you posted!

Pacific NW, because I’ve never been there. Since you very rarely talk about work, can you share why you’re jobhunting?

That roundtrip ticket? Anywhere. Just one way. My laptop keyboard got fried (well, not “got” — I had a coffee mishap), I have to wait about a week for the new one to arrive, and then hopefully — HOPEFULLY — the laptop will work. So, I just don’t want to be HERE. Anywhere else would be A-OK!

I don’t know of any web-writer jobs offhand, but as I’m more of the techy side of the web, I do know writer type jobs often pop up on this job search: http://www.krop.com/

GoodLuck!

Round-trip ticket? Free? Oh, it sends my mind reeling. Sometimes I look in my boss’ airline guide just to think about where I could be TOMORROW.

Does U.S. Virgin Islands count as U.S.? How about Puerto Rico? Okay, I know Hawaii counts! I could use a dose of Aloha about now.

I think the furthest I’d like to go on the Mainland would be . . . Orlando. I’ve never been there, and I’d like to get lost in Disney World and see Epcot and escape from real life just for a few days. Wait, where’s my free hotel room?

A free round trip ticket? I would travel to Greece or Italy, I want to see the blue waters and eat all the food!!!

I can’t wait for Texas, it will be so much better than the last trip.

Hooray! I am so excited that you are coming for Thanksgiving. I can’t even tell you how much I have missed the family get togethers.

Steve makes a terrific turkey but we have both agreed that you need to get here in enough time to do dessert - no more looking at the mouth watering pictures!

Thanks for the link Candice!

The Hills kinda boring!?! I have to respectfully disagree - Spencer and Brody’s breakup? Classic.

I’d go home - to Boston - to see my parents. And I’d use the money saved from the ticket on a hotel room.

Round trip ticket? Hmmmmm . . .

Well, there are all the smart aleck answers, like “Baltimore” (because the traffic in the DC area is just that bad), “Wisconsin” (because it’s the only State east of the Mississippi which I have never visited), “Nebraska” (just, you, know, because), etc. etc. etc.

So where would I go? Just about anywhere on the Gulf Coast (well, not Louisiana) would be pretty nice. I was going to fill in a few cities in Canada, but then I saw your “U.S.” restriction (even though a lot of Canadian cities are closer to where I live than many places in the U.S.). Then I realized that our last vacation experience made me really hate flying, even if it were free.

There, none of that really answered your question, did it?

As far as Texas goes, we were there three years ago. Houston is OK, but it’s just another big city to us. Galveston (on the Gulf) is kind of quaint, though. It’s also fun to go to the San Jacinto Monument, especially passing the miles and miles and miles of refineries and petrochemical plants. It absolutely dwarfs what you see on the New Jersey Turnpike near Rahway. Of course, I had to show all this to my wife, romantic guy that I am. ;)

Austin is a nice, if funky city. There’s this bridge over the Texas Colorado under which a bunch of bats live. Supposedly, they come out around sunset and eat every mosquito within 100 miles. Check out the Barton Springs Pool, New Braunfels, Gruene (sp?), and some good barbecue and chili (yes, it’s better in Texas by far). San Antonio isn’t that far away, either. They really do have bumper stickers around Austin that say “Keep Austin Weird.”

Now I’m waiting for some cynical person to question whether this is really a cousin visit or a JDate adventure! ;)

Oh, and good luck with the job hunt. Sorry if I can’t help out.

I would go to San Quentin! Why, so I can see all my homies back in the SQ, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Quentin
