Thursday Things

A very abbreviated post because I went to bed really early last night and didn’t have time to put much together. Here ya go:

Wednesday night’s plans were rescheduled, so I have nothing exciting to report about that.

NJM of course called while I was out with FG Tuesday night. Speaking of FG, we have a second date this weekend, and yes, I am excited.
- - -
In TV news, last night I watched Top Chef on Tivo but haven’t had a chance to catch up on the rest of my Tivo’d stuff. Who do you all want to win on Top Chef?

Want to do a good deed and possibly win a cookbook? Here’s your chance!

This week’s question: You have access to a time machine. What period of your life would you go back to and what would you do differently?

1978-79; not listen to my parents’ plans for my future; apply to Emerson College and become a journalist.

Great to hear about FG guy!

Yay! Second date!
I think I can say I am pretty happy with all of the choices I have made in my life. I guess there are small things I might change.

I’d go back to the time right before I quit college. And I wouldn’t quit this time. Oh, and I would have majored in something other than psychology.

Have a super time with FG this weekend!!!!

Trey for the win please!

Time machine: I’d tell my middle school self that all the crap that you’re going through now will make you a great woman. Also, I’d love to have met my paternal grandparents, awesome people taken too early in life.

My claw bangs at my Bat Mitzvah. I still shudder when I see a picture. Also, the peach (!) bubble dress. I don’t think there is a color on earth I look worse in than peach.

If I had a time machine I would go back to college and do everything exactly the same. Sigh.

I’m thinking it’s going to be Trey vs. Hung in the final. And Trey for the win.

Many, many stray thoughts on the time machine deal. After all it’s been the subject of literature, both science fiction and general for ages.

Personally, there’s not much to be done, historically however, there’s much:

1.) Going back in time some 61 years ago and telling Babs & G.H.W. Bush ‘For Kreist sake, Use a condom!’ Even if it meant we might have gotten get Jeb! as Prez now, we & the world would come out ahead, if only slightly.

2.) I mean there’s several places you’d just love to be historically. On the hill with Gen. Custer at the Battle of Little Big Horn. ‘General, You screwed up big, and now you’re cooked & I’m outa here!’, as I hop into my Jeep & speed away.

3.) Smuggling machine guns into Jerusalem during the 1st Jewish uprising of biblical & Roman times. I suspect it would not help much, but just to see the shock on the Legionaries faces would be worth it.

4.) Getting a clear pic of a cross dressing J. Edgar Hoover to give to his nemesis M.L. King to chuckle over.

5.) Trying to save Bobby Kennedy from Sirhan’s gun.

6.) Killing Hitler, Stalin, & innumerable other evil murderous despots a just little earlier. They’d all die ignominiously with highly and vividly embarrassing deaths, erotically attached to sheep or vacuum cleaners or such. Killed by common food poisoning from eating ridiculous things like caviar with insects covered with spam on white bread.

7.) Be present at the creation of more stuff. ‘Wait, if you don’t patent that right now, Sarnoff will take all the credit!’ Radio. Film. Phones. Electric distribution. Medical & scientific advancements.

8.) Being in the small dusty shacks at Los Alamos with the likes of Fermi, Oppenheimer, Feynman, Szilard & a host of other future Noble winning chemists& physicists some 60 years ago for the Manhattan project. ‘Wait what do you mean you’re going to use this coat hanger for the radar receiver?’

9.) Landing with Columbus into the New World to describe and investigate just how fast & far disease spread from the experience.

10.) Ensuring that we won more of the battles during the War of 1812 so that we’d wind up acquiring more of Canada than Mexico in the 19th century.

And that’s just the short list. Cheers & Good Luck, ‘VJ’

I’d go back to senior year of high school, and go to another college and finish college! And have more sex while in college!

I love VJ’s list.

Still don’t have a _Top Chef_ pick but I’d like to see a woman win for once.

I’d do college over with the wisdom I now possess: your college GPA is really not that important and you should take advantage of many opportunities to have fun.
