Why Working In Century City Sucks Today

From building management:

Thermal Source has notified us that construction* at Constellation and Avenue of the Stars has caused a large rupture of the chilled water line for Century City. Crews are working to fix the situation. HVAC will not be provided for the next 24 hours. Updates will follow as we are notified by Thermal Source.

How hot is it in my office you ask? Oh, around 90 degrees. Do we get to go home? No. Fortunately, I know people who know people so I can work in the server room (it has its own air conditioner), so it’s just warm, rather than hot in here.

And now, they’re giving away ice cream in the lobby. Yes, seriously.

*Stupid Century City condo construction to blame. First they take away our farmer’s market, now our air conditioning. Now I must return to sweating.

I feel your pain, and er, sweat, as you know.
We don’t get to go home either, but I am thinking once I get my content for day done I am going. Per aforementioned (on my blog comment reply) sweater issue.

That does suck! When I lived in Memphis, our server room was the size of a football field and had a raised floor AC system. We had to go in there when we were under tornado warnings. That was the ONLY time I wanted to be close to my coworkers, for body heat.

Your office got ice cream? We did not get ice cream! lol. Not only did it affect our offices, which are HOT, but it made our elevator service slower. So, on the elevators we have hot, stinky people crammed into one car. Very unpleasant.

Laura, that sucks! Not that I partook in the ice cream, but still. Check this out–apparently they ran out of ice cream, so they went and bought ice cream cakes. What the hell? Wouldn’t the money have been better spent on FANS or something? It’s so hot in here, I’m already sweating and it’s only 9:15.

Oh Man, I hear ya. I happen to sit right by the server room–w the door open its like a blast of hot exhaust air being directed right at me.

I predict my coworkers and I expire from heat stroke by 1pm. lol
