If you skate, you would be great; If you could make a figure eight*

I have read this meme on a ton of blogs and kept waiting to be tagged. So after whining in Dori’s comments, she tagged me. Little did I remember, I participated in a similar five weird habits about myself meme a couple of years ago. Oops.

Anyway, here are eight random facts/habits about me:

  1. I hate hate hate having dishes in the sink before I go to bed. I would rather spend a few extra minutes washing them than leave them in the sink until the next day.
  2. I feel naked without my watch. When I was in college, my watch died on the day of a final exam so I went out and bought one that morning.
  3. I start a lot of projects but never finish them. They always seem like a good idea at the time, then I just get bored or uninspired and they sit there half completed.
  4. About once a year, I’ll look up online the value of some of the baseball cards my dad and I saved from when I was a kid. Nothing is worth much.
  5. I have awesome hearing. When I’m in a loud restaurant, I can always hear the music when no one else can.
  6. When I’m baking (and not in a rush), I like to measure out all of the ingredients before I start mixing things. I’m organized like that.
  7. I can fall asleep anywhere–in a room with a blaring TV, in a car, on an airplane–it doesn’t matter where I am as long as I’m tired.
  8. Strangers love me. I could be at the market, the gas station, shopping, or walking down the street, and someone will stop and talk to me. I usually find out way too much about random people.

I’m supposed to tag two people, but I’m tagging anyone who wants to do it. Leave a comment if you do it on your blog!

Oh, my! I start projects, too. They haunt me and taunt me, just sitting there, not getting done! Uninspired? I just don’t think there’s enough time for them AND TiVo!

I am resolving to hire a twice a month cleaning person and yard person. Something has to give for a single, working mom who commutes on L.A. Freeways. Right?

I’m the same way about my watch. I also can’t leave the house without checking my pockets — “wallet, keys, cellphone” (the cell is only the past 5 years), and I panic a little if one of them’s missing… although usually ’cause it’s still in my hand.

btw, it was great to see you on Saturday — sorry this is my first chance to say so. Glad you liked the movie.

They say that people who start projects and don’t finish them are perfectionists and afraid of failure.

I’m the same way about music in loud places. I’ll suddenly say, “Oooh! I love this song!” and whoever I’m with will look all around and have to concentrate to hear it at all (sometimes they can’t).

In reaction to no.3 I have a good joke for you:

Who couldn’t use a little more calmness in their lives?

By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil show, you too can find inner peace!.. Dr Phil proclaimed, “The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished.”

So, wanting to turn a new leaf, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn’t finished, and upon waking this morning, I finished off a bottle of Merlot, the bottle of Pol Roger Champagne from last night, a bottle of Kalhua, the remainder of my Green& Black chocolate bar, the remainder of an old Prozac prescription, the rest of the dessert from a party a couple of days back, some balsamic kettle chips, and a box of M&S chocolates.

You have no idea how good I feel right now.

Please pass this on to those whom you think might be in need of inner peace!

I am the SAME way with my watch. I’m not “oh, I left my watch at home, darn.” It’s more like I risk being late to work, turning the car around and going back to fetch it.

I wear my watch to bed.

And, no, I’m not joking. I take it when showering, then before I even put clothes on, I put my watch back on. I rarely forget it, but when it does happen-I feel naked, lost and can’t wait to get home to put it on.

I think this is a perfectionist thing as well, much like the project thing- which I also have in common with you. I get almost manic about my ideas, not being able to control my excitement when starting a new project…and then it ends up in a closet, unfinished. I think it IS a subconscious thing I do to prevent failure and letting myself down, in fear that it won’t live up to that idea finished product that’s in my head.

And, I too have awesome hearing. I’m always the one jamming out to a song that is being played- and everyone else is like “What? What song is it? I can’t even hear any music.” My Dad says I have hearing like a bird dog.

I’ll take a little of #2, 3, 6 and 8 for the win! I have to have my watch. I even double check the time on cell phone after checking my watch.

Projects, projects everywhere. I have a cross-stitch that I need to get done before September, it’s a baby present.

I’m a huge fan of premeasuring but I don’t have a lot of counter space, so there is no baking going on now.

Lastly, my mom’s never met a stranger and it appears that I attract them as well.

The bottom dropped out of baseball card market years ago. The value is what they sell for on eBay. That isn’t much. Unless… I’ll share with you my secret. Have burglars break into your house and steal your baseball cards. Report the list of cards to your insurance company. They’ll send you a check for Beckett Price Guide value, a price ridiculously higher than eBay. Not that I’m advocating you having a break-in too or anything.
