Weekend / Passover Stuff

I haven’t forgotten about you guys–I’m down in SD for the seders and have been ridiculously busy baking and um, baking, and yeah, baking some more. But here are the highlights, beginning with Friday. More bullets, because I’m too tired to write actual paragraphs:

Friday

  • Went to the clusterfuck known as Hollywood and Highland to buy pants for work. The pants at Express no longer come in long. And the longs at the Gap were too short. I’m only 5′9″, what the hell?
  • Saw a man walking/skating in those gym shoes with wheels, then noticed the kiosk he was working at. Yes, they make those for adults now. Insanity.

Saturday

  • Spent four hours on the freeway getting to SD.
  • Spent about one of those hours talking to a new Jdate guy who shall be called The Artist, because well duh, he’s an artist.
  • Stopped for frozen yogurt with Julie and her boys.
  • Went for sushi with my parents.
  • Watched The Quiet, a very odd movie.

Sunday

  • Slept in and went for breakfast at Pacifica with my parents.
  • Hit Banana Republic. They are having an awesome sale, and I got two lightweight v-neck sweaters and a black blouse.
  • Made two apple crisps, a mango torte, and mandel bread with my mom.
  • Had dinner (including bread!) with my parents.
  • Watched The Amazing Race and The Apprentice then went to sleep.

Monday

  • Slept in.
  • Made a flourless chocolate cake, matzo brittle, brownies, and meringues, because really, we didn’t bake enough on Sunday.
  • Talked to The Artist on the phone again.
  • Finally changed out of my pajamas.
  • Went to seder number one.
  • Came home and caught up on email then posted this.

Tuesday should be a repeat of today, then Wednesday morning I’ll be waking up nice and early and heading back to LA to go to work. I’ll hopefully be awake enough to you know, actually work. I already can’t wait for the weekend.

” I’m only 5′9″ ” you say — ONLY??? I’m ONLY 5′. That’s five feet, zero inches. Every single pair of pants is too long for me. If I want to avoid the trip to the tailor, I look for ankle-length and pray that they’ll fit me full-length without dragging on the floor. [sigh]

I’m 5′6″ and the regulars are too long and the ankle length is too short. Can they ever get pants right?

I’m 5′8 and I agree with you. All I have to say to petite people who complain is that it is a lot easier to take pants up than bring them down.

When are you meeting the Artist?

My drivers license ays I’m 5-9 but that’s a lie. Every time I have to renew it I make myself an inch taller so that by the time I hit 60 I’ll be 6-7.

The pants thing is a perpetual problem. I’m 5′2 and, other than Express and Gap, it seems like the rest of the fashion retail world can’t understand that legs come in different lengths and thus pants should too.

Chag sameach!

I’m 5′8″ but I’m all leg, so the pants issue is the same for me. It’s why I always wear skirts!

The baking sounds delish. How do you keep yourself from eating everything in sight?

2 phone conversations with one being over an hour. this sounds very promising!

So glad Bethany is heading home with you guys! I’m in SF now, and loving being back in the states. Will plan a trip down soon, can’t wait to see your family, need to get to SD…

I enjoyed this Sunday’s Amazing Race. I laughed so much. Poor Charla, she looked so tired and sick from eating all that sausage.

Amen, Sarah!

I’m going to give the Artist a call after work, so hopefully sometime next week. :)
