Thursday Things

I’m back! And if I never see another box of matzah cake meal, I wouldn’t be happier. Even though my parents’ kitchen has double convection ovens, we still spent three days baking for the two seders (25 people and 48 people in attendance). It was kinda sad to see three days worth of baking get eaten up in about five minutes. But at least I was able to give out about a dozen business cards. Woohoo!

As you may remember, I am addicted to Cadbury mini eggs. Yesterday, I read about these–mini eggs with pop rocks on the outside! I must have them. Unfortunately, they’re only available in Canada (hey, I did my research) which means I may have to ask one of my friends in Michigan to mail me some.

Looking for a calligrapher? Erin of erin-go-blog (one of the first blogs I began reading on a regular basis) does beautiful calligraphy. Check her out.

I have to get two fillings this afternoon. I have nothing more to add to that thought, other than I’m of course looking for sympathy because I hate those damn needles.

Is anyone else’s DirecTV Tivo acting up? I have it set to record only first run for a lot of shows, yet it’s recording every damn episode. Which means, I have about 15 episodes of Engaged and Underage and The Real World recorded. Or I, would, if I uh, watched those shows.

I spoke to The Artist last night and we made plans to meet up on Monday. No idea yet as to what we’re doing.

Also last night, I attended a Jewish night of HurryDate. Of my ten “dates,” I had previously met two. One was this guy who asked me a) why I wasn’t at a seder for the third night of Passover; and b) if Passover was “the ma nishtana holiday.” The other was a guy I knew from college (he was a friend of a friend) who is a really cute optometrist now. We spent a good chunk of our five minutes talking about my LASIK experience and resulting residual astigmatism and halos. Sexy conversation, eh? Apparently this is what happens when you’re the daughter of an optometrist and meet another optometrist. Maybe vision talk can lead to a date? Who knows. Anyway, I put “yes” to a few men and should know if I matched with any of them by tonight. I’ll keep ya posted.

I have to get a filling on the 24th. I haven’t had a cavity in a thousand years, so the Giant Fear of Needles (yes, those words deserve capitalization) is in me. Please let me know how you dealt with the needles so that I can learn from your, um, discomfort?

Oh, and the next day, gyno appointment. Another type of filling. (Sorry. That was gross.)

Oh, wait. There’s more. Earlier this week I found out that I need reading glasses.

April is shaping up to be a lovely month, medical insurance wise. I can’t wait until May. When I turn 42. Oh crap. June better be fabulous!

Hil,
As one of your beloved Canadian readers I can send you mini eggs if you want…you should see my email from where I commented, if not I’ll post.

Check your Season Pass settings, because daylight savings time changed this year there was a download to correct the guide this weekend. This may be a residual effect of the update. If this doesn’t fix it, let me know.

Thanks for the mention, Hil!

I still remember how exciting it was when we found each others’ blogs…

Oh I saw those mini-eggs yesterday…they looked a little perplexing so I put them back down…if I had known though I would have bought you a bag or seven!

Oh, and those Cadbury mini eggs? Serious weakness of mine. (Hence the dentist??? Sigh.)

Anyway. I’ll be in Montreal next weekend to visit my family. I’ll gladly look for the pop rocks version and should I find them (and not eat them all), I’ll mail you a bunch ‘o bags when I get back to CT.

I’m sorry you have to go to the dentist for fillings. I hope that you are able to get the gas. I LOVE the Nitrous Oxide. Though, I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting some work done at my next check up. Bah! I blame it on the cupcakes.

And, good luck with the Artist and your HurryDates. :)

Engaged and Underaged. Sigh. You’re making me miss my cable.

Also: Vision Guy sounds hot. You can gaze into each other’s eyes like Monica and Richard on _Friends_.

“So, on our first date, I told the guy he was very cute, and he just said I should have my eyes examined.”

Ba-dum-CRASH!

Has E&U had a new ep since the girls in the “spa” recap? I was recording it on Monday nights, but they moved it and I haven’t looked for it.

Did you ask the guy why he wasn’t at a seder?

Don’t knock the optometrist guy. As Garrison Keillor once said, “There’s more to vision than meets the eye!”

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
