Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday night I spoke to DG on the phone (for those of you wondering, we didn’t go out on Thursday, we’re going out Monday instead) then did laundry, wrapped birthday presents, and fell asleep ten minutes into Law & Order.

Saturday I woke up bright and early to drive down to San Diego for Julie’s son’s fourth birthday party. There were so many kids, nearly half of whom belonged to high school friends of ours–that part was a little weird for me. But the party was a lot of fun, and I got a chance to catch up with Julie’s family which is always a blast. I then went straight from the party to my dad’s office to get my eyes checked again. Apparently the antibiotics I was on last time I was in town affected my vision so we got a bad reading from that exam. Go figure.

That evening, my parents and I hit up their local sushi place then came home where I setup their wireless router, then had ice cream and watched Law & Order; exciting, I know. As a side note, my parents’ house is now almost complete and so gorgeous. Unlike last time, there are sinks, however still no mirrors. But one of the coolest things is that since we’re all tall, they had the counters put in a bit higher than standard counters which should make it really nice when I have a lot of baking to do for the holidays. But anyway.

Sunday we went into downtown Del Mar for brunch at Pacifica Breeze. I’ve never been a big breakfast person, but the last couple of times I’ve been to the Breeze, I’ve ordered the Breeze Huevos. I think I’ve found a new favorite food.

After brunch, we stopped at Banana and I got a super cute skirt, shirt, and jeans. Two notes: 1. These are the best jeans ever. 2. Half of the clothes in the store reminded me of 1985. Following Banana, I picked up a new flat iron that claims to have ceramic/titanium plates (has anyone tried it?) then hit the road. Traffic was pretty light until I got off the freeway–I didn’t realize The Who was playing at The Bowl tonight. Oh well. Even though I didn’t get a chance to test drive any cars, the rest of the weekend was fun, and my parents’ house is absolutely beautiful!

In other news, Monday I’m having lunch with Keith and Nicole. We all work in the same area and decided it’d be fun to meet up. The rest of this week is going to be nuts. I have drinks with DG on Monday, my monthly girls’ night with Ann-Marie, Jen, and Marisa on Tuesday, a speed dating type thing on Wednesday (stay tuned for the details), and dinner with a girlfriend on Thursday.

The weekend is packed solid too, and Esther, who will be in town for the GA, managed to score me a ticket to the private Guster/Leevees show on Sunday night. Speaking of the show, I got an email from cute-boy-who-damn-lives-with-his-girlfriend about how to get tickets; he also said he’ll be at the show and asked if I wanted to hang out because he’ll be there alone. I wrote him back and said definitely. Hey, maybe he has some nice, single friends.

Here’s hoping for nice single friends!

On the “Law & Order,” one character said that he got a job because another Jew helped him out. That doesn’t exist in reality.

And we do need to talk about how Barney came out of the closet this weekend. My world is shaken.

Two Things:

1. I am thinking that Guster Guy may have An Interest in you, despite the presence of his (perhaps) Imaginary Gilrfriend.

2.Doogie being Gay is Way Old News. Who’s Next — Ricky Martin??

How in the world did you pass out during the Chevy Chase Law and Order?!

Jeans for women who have hips?? Although why they are for women with “curves” and available in a 00 is beyond me.

And I think Guster boy might not like his girlfriend so much.

Agreed. Guster Boy’s GF can’t be bothered to go to the concert with him? And he contacts a girl he barely knows to hang out? Hmmm. Testament to your loveliness (and perhaps his GF’s incompatibility.)

You guys are so funny. His girlfriend isn’t going probably because in order to get tickets you have to either a) volunteer the whole day or b) know someone. And maybe she isn’t a fan of the band…

But thanks!

And Rachel, uh yeah, that is odd!

I am with the others here, Guster Boy’s GF is temporary at best. Sorry, if my live in BF had plans to go to a concert on his own, I think that would be strange (would be ok if he was going with some guys), and if he emailed a girl he just met to “hang out” with, that is just inappropriate. Can you imagine doing that with a guy if you were in a live in relationship?

Yeah, if my BF, especially of the live-in persuasion told me he was going to a concert with someone (a girl) he barely knew…I would be like “Um, seriously? No.”
It just seems odd to me.

I’m excited about the concert!

Seriously, you guys are silly. I think he’s going solo because since he’s volunteering all day, he only gets one ticket. Therefore, the girlfriend can’t go. And that’s it. But thanks for the wishful thinking. :)

Wait, esther is coming to town and we’re not having a party?

He’ll be there alone, huh? Rockin’! Let’s hope she is imaginary…but in any case she’s only a girlfriend…and how do you commentors know he told her about meeting up with Hil? Girl, I say he’s fair game - go with wherever it goes. :) Am I a bit too much in your corner? Oh well.

I hope it is the casual “see you at the show” kind of thing you’re describing, because if it isn’t, he either has an imaginary girlfriend (does he have an imaginary law degree too?) or is inviting a women he just met (you) to hang out with him while he is living with a woman he refers to as his girlfriend.

I also hope he does have nice, single and not imaginary friends.

It’s innocent, I’m sure. He’s a good guy. No intention other than to enjoy the concert. The end.
