Thursday Things

Just a note to start with: I’m aware of the lag/inability to leave a comment. My once reliable hosting company appears to have grown too large too fast and I’m ready to switch. Any suggestions for hosting companies?

Have you seen this banana guard? Seriously. It’s real. And check out the last question on the FAQ page.

Only 19 days until my surgery! But of course, Tuesday I woke up with a really bad sore throat and went back to the ENT for yet another throat culture. I should get the results today or tomorrow–please cross your fingers it’s negative for Strep. Also, during the appointment I got in trouble for using Q-Tips. Remember the discussion we had about this back in August?

In car news, I’m over the hybrid idea. (The Prius and Civic don’t have a sunroof, and I don’t drive enough to make the hybrid worth the money.) However, since I love my little Honda so much, I’m now looking at the Accord and new CRV.

Tonight I have tentative plans for drinks with DG. Yes, that DG. And tentative depending on a) how well I feel; and b) how late he’s working.

In TV news, how happy am I that Mariska Hargitay is finally back on Law & Order: SVU? That blond woman was so annoying; I did not like here at all.

Speaking of annoying…Marcel on Top Chef just bugs. So. Damn. Much.

In case anyone was wondering, I love my new bag-less vacuum cleaner. It is so cool!

And finally, this weekend I’m heading down to my parents’ house (where they now have sinks, but still no mirrors). While in SD, I plan on going to Julie’s son’s fourth birthday party, test driving cars with my dad, relaxing, and eating lots of leftover Halloween candy. Fun fun!

Hilary,

What brand did you go with for the vacuum? I have a canister vacuum right now but it’s old and I hate shlepping it around.

Thanks

P.S. I’m praying for your throat culture to be negative.

Go Accord! I just bought a new one four months ago. I feel more like I’m flying the car rather than driving it, it’s so smooth.

i hope your culture is negative, so you can just get rid of your damn infected tonsils. as for the q-tips, every morning since your original post, i try to walk past my q-tip box, but i just can’t break the habit. thanks mom!!!!

I highly recommend MediaTemple as a hosting company.

I can’t believe that banana thing, especially the last question in the FAQs about battery attachment, because really, this thing does look like a sex toy. The spooky thing is that it also seems useful. Bruised bananas are yucky!

Hil: Bethany is correct…no Halloween candy. Because the stucco was not finished by Tuesday, we had no outside lighting and had 2 pots with prickery cacti in the walkway with other stuff that needed to be hauled away. Consequently, we could not have little ones safely come up the walk. We will double the candy next year. We may have the mirrors today!!!!!!!! Hope so. However, still no towel racks up.

Yay for the negative throat culture. Keep up the good work. Stay well…only 19 days and we will rip those babies out and you will be well for once and for all. Well, not exactly RIP them out.

I love you, honey and can’t wait to see you tomorrow nite.

I’m guilty of the q-tip thing, but I swear I only use them to clean my outer ear.

I hope your surgery goes well!

Candice: MediaTemple is my hosting company, and I can’t say I’m entirely pleased with them. I have to pay an extra $3 for spam blocking, which usually is free with most hosts, and I’ve been having a metric assload of e-mail issues with them lately where messages will be delayed for several hours and the server keeps resetting itself and dropping the connection, which causes errors on my Entourage and is really frustrating when I’m using Webmail at work.

The Accord ROCKS. I had one for 12 years and I almost got a new one last year, but as you know, I fell madly in love with Flipper.

Stop me before I buy that banana guard! Nice to see that a Canadian company has a sense of humor about their product, we are too uptight here.

Take an Acura TSX for a spin - it’s the European Accord with a big A stamped on the front so high falutin’ Americans will buy it.
