Weekend Wrap-Up

In bullet form, because I’m too tired to write complete paragraphs.

Friday

  • En route to the waxer my sister recommended, I saw Nicole Richie being hounded by paparazzi outside Sprinkles.
  • Got my eyebrows waxed for $17 and still have all of my skin.
  • Freaked the waxer out by telling her my sister and I really do have the same parents. She thinks we look nothing alike.
  • Had a lovely dinner with a friend.
  • Spoke to a new Jdate guy on the phone and learned he’s in the process of becoming a Big Brother…so cool. Drinks on Tuesday.

Saturday

  • Went to WW and am down 2.2 more pounds. Yay!
  • Got my hair cut and colored. And my hands and feet done. I’m Not Really A Waitress red of course!Soup Dragons T-Shirt
  • Received my super secret package consisting of contraband from Ari. Have I mentioned how much she rocks?
  • Cleaned out my closet. (Before and after.) Found two interesting items, including an ancient cell phone and a Soup Dragons t-shirt, amid the disaster area.
  • Over late night popsicles with a friend, put two and two together and figured out a lot of stuff in my head and was reminded that the company one keeps really does say a lot about that person.
  • Was convinced by my friend that I should have a painting party. I’m planning on a making a bunch of snacks and desserts and inviting my friends over to help paint my apartment. Finally. I’ve only been talking about it for years. Let me know if you want to help.

Sunday

  • Slathered myself with sunscreen then drove out to the Westside to pick up my Little then trekked all the way out to Camp for the party for all the Bigs and Littles to celebrate our matches.
  • Did I mention it was about 100 degrees?
  • Chatted with other Bigs (including one cute, single Big Brother) and Littles, had lunch (including plenty of cotton candy and snow cones), played the carnival games, and went on a bouncy bungee thing. We had the same shoes
  • After sweating outside in the 100 degree weather for two hours, I was informed that my Little and I were chosen as one of two matches (out of almost 200 total) to be photographed and interviewed for PR materials and newspaper articles.
  • Had a mini photo shoot and was told I should be receiving a call for an interview shortly. Kinda cool!
  • Drove back out to the Westside to drop my Little off, then finally made it back to Hollywood, about an hour and a half later. Traffic sucked.
  • After emailing with my cousin, I decided I’m going to visit him in Seattle, hopefully over Labor Day weekend. That way I can catch Bumbershoot, see my aunt and uncle, and see my cousin play live again.

Now I have to tend to adult stuff, like an empty fridge, a messy living room, and brown bananas begging to be made into chocolate chip banana bread.

Man, that shirt brings back memories. No, my shirt is long-gone, along with the 10 Oingo Boingo concert tees. Sounds like a fun and busy weekend. Congrats on the interview opportunity. I’m sure you will be influential in signing up new bigs for the program with your experiences. The pic of you and your little is great…but what are you doing wearing jeans in this weather?!

Thanks again for the talk last night :)

Mom: Yeah, Jason said they’ll be in town even though he still doesn’t know if his band is playing. I’m going to start looking at airfares soon to see if I can snag a cheap one.

JAB: I know! I somehow managed to save just this one. All of my Boingo and Depeche Mode shirts are long gone. :(

Re: the jeans…I don’t like how my capris fit just yet, and I didn’t want to wear a skirt because a) my legs are WHITE and b) we were sitting on the ground much of the day.

And you’re more than welcome for the talk last night. God knows I’ve talked your ear off as of late!

Hey, great job on the closet and congrats on the Big Sister publicity thing! I know we’ve only met once, but if you need more painters I’m happy to help (especially if you’re planning on doing any baking for the event… I’ve heard good things…).

What a great weekend you had! So glad to “see” you in such a good mood. Congrats on all the good things - chatting up new guys, weight loss, being picked for the photo shoot, etc.

Don’t know if I’m any good at painting, but I’m happy to try!

Celeb spotting. Sunshine. Social activism. Two dating prospects. Bonding. Publicity. Weightloss. Successful skin care. All in one weekend. Does it get any better?!
