Thursday Things

Haven’t heard from CL Guy since our last date. He had mentioned the movie he’s working on is wrapping this week and he’d be super busy so he wasn’t sure if we could get together over the weekend. But apparently not too busy to find time to put up this week’s ad on CL. I guess some things just aren’t meant to be.

Speaking of things that aren’t meant to be, yesterday just before lunch, I got a call from the Orange County attorney I used to date who was in town last month for a court appearance and wanted to get a drink. He had a meeting with a client in my office building and wanted to take me for a quick lunch beforehand. It was nice catching up with him.

In Jdate news, there a potential date. More details as I have them.

I realized yesterday I completely left Marissa off of my LA food meme. So Marissa, consider yourself tagged!

In baking news, I’m thinking about trying to make hamantaschen. Anyone have a good recipe?

Want to have a makeover, go on a cruise, and meet someone from online that you have yet to meet? Then here you go! (link courtesy of Marissa)

In blog news, I have been found by a second coworker. Hi Marta!

And finally, if Ted were a real person, I’d marry him and it’d be legendary.

For an excellent hamantaschen recipe, go to http://www.cbtfv.org/jewish_life/recipe_search_results.php3?valid_recipe_id=109. This was in my (CA) synagogue newsletter and it is fantastic.

And, if you are ever in Orange County for Shabbat, I highly recommend Congregation B’nai Tzedek. They are my favorite Reform synagogue of all time. That’s probably because I grew up there, but still. Tell them PepGiraffe sent you. :)

Who is Ted?

I am seriously tempted to do this cruise thing…as long as I got to choose the guy. Or, as long as he was Jewish and in the right age range.

I was tagged with this meme before it morphed into an LA-specific meme - about a month ago: http://terranonfirma.blogspot.com/2006/02/tagged-departure.html

so I dont think I have much to add since it became LA-centric, given I’ve only ever lived in hollywood and had one job here. funny how these things mutate.

“have you met ted?” Id so marry Ted too.

Anyway keep dating other people. CL guy will either come around (my new one did this to me, went silent for a week, still posting on myspace and then came back around) or that damn bus will run over him.

I dont know why I feel qualified to give you advice. I dont even know you, i just really like your blog. :)

Here’s a slightly different, (as yet) untested, uncited (can’t remember where I got it) recipe:

1/4 lb. margarine
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs

Cream margarine and sugar together, add eggs and vanilla, then flour and baking powder. Refigerate dough one hour, then roll out and cut circles with a glass. Fill (with whatever) and pinch edges, bake at 350 deg. for 20 min.

I also found a recipe for a chocolate filling:

1 pkg. cream cheese
3 tsp. cocoa
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg

Mix together and fill. Or, someone else suggested using chocolate chips. I may experiment.

If you come across something great, please post!

Nutella is a good filling for hamentaschen, btw…if you like Nutella, which I vaguely remember Hilary doesn’t. d’oh.

You might ask Stacey in TX on the details here, she was cooking up plenty of real nifty hamantaschen on Weds.

I don’t know what to think of the CL guy. Everyone gets busy from time to time, but still updating your new CL listing is indicative of something less than stellar happening. I’d give it some time to see if your suspicions prove out. But I think perhaps the Bus is warming up, which naturally would be his loss. He may come to realize this soon too. Who knows? Cheers & Good Luck! ‘VJ’

Hillary!

Just from Reading Your Blog, I can already tell that you can do SOOOOO Much better than Flakey CL Guy. (And I think that you know in your Heart, that neither of you are Just That Into One Another.) That being said, CL Dude still Owes Hills A Phone Call.

I enjoy Commenting On Your Love Life, it is so much healthier than my own.

Also, I enjoy calling you, “Hills.”

OK here’s more advice from someone who doesn’t know you. CL guy has told you that he’s not interested in children (at least not anytime soon)you should move on.

P.S. Some of the cast from “How I Met Your Mother” is at the DGA on Monday. Email me if you want to go, I can get you 2 tix.

Hamentaschen update: Recipe unremarkable. I used whole wheat flour and the cookies are a little bland. Next time, white flour and nutella.
