Boring Weekend Wrap-Up

This weekend, I:

  • Accepted plans with CL Guy who then ended up cancelling so I went to bed around 10:00.
  • Finally watched the season finale of Beauty and the Geek.
  • Went to Target with everyone else in West Hollywood. Did you know they sell wine now?
  • Spent entirely too much money at a cake and candy supply store on the westside. I got the cutest sprinkles and cupcake liners ever! Unfortunately, they don’t sell dragees.
  • E-filed my taxes.
  • Became best friends with my neighborhood shoe repair guy.
  • Went to the gym.
  • Watched three (3!) hours of Law & Order.
  • Found two new ads for CL guy, both posted Saturday night. Anyone else get the feeling he may just not be that into me?
  • Cried. Because I just don’t get it. Because I’m not that into him either. And now, I’m over it.
  • Went to the Hollywood farmer’s market.
  • Baked cupcakes. Attempted to use my pastry bag to decorate them. Learned I suck at it and need to a) buy a bigger tip; b) take a class.

Batter Cooling--regular size and minis My first ever attempt at using a pastry bag Yum!

Tonight I’m meeting the girls for dinner at Taste. I so need a girls’ night.

Geez that’s just nutty of Mr. CL, completely Mishuggah. Busy at work? Tinker with your ad, but don’t call or see the gal who’s shown any interest in you. I’d say this was a generational conceit where you imagine you can game someone better into your life on the power of ‘charm’ and words alone. But then I can recall the history of western music, prose & poetry for the last oh, say 1000 or so years. It was the same thing way back then too. And with most of the non western arts too btw.

I’d certainly lose my patience with this Shmendrik too. I don’t get it either, it never adds up. Cheers & Good Luck! ‘VJ’

Sorry to be missing Girls’ Night. Again. Here’s an idea…rent “The Sweetest Thing.” It’s kind of a sex comedy for women, or maybe it’s for men, I’m not sure. But I thought it was pretty funny in a ludicrous sort of way. And it takes place in San Francisco, which is an unusual thing. So in summary: wine, cupcakes, and “The Sweetest Thing.”

You’re welcome.

CL sucks. No more. You deserve a man that is captivated - not a guy with one eye on the crowd. The hell with him. We hate men that ellicit tears. HATE. And I will totally seek out those dragees for you — pinky swear.

Chin up pretty girl. At least he’s barely wasted your time. Love you.

Hills!

I loooove Cupcakes! I am so curious about yours….do you sell them? Or just give them away? I would really like to taste one!

Ok — I might have missed it if someone else has commented on it. But did you ever think that he might be seeing your JDate profile and thinking to himself “well, maybe she’s not that into me and maybe she’ll back off if she sees my ad on cragislist.” Stupid? Yes. Immature? Yes. But if that’s the case, you might as well break the cycle. Besides, he’s a guy, and from experience I know that we don’t always think straight when it comes to women.

Maybe a flaw on his side, but why not just address it and ask? If you keep on digging the guy and he’s not into you — it saves a lot of heartbreak later. Or, if he’s seeing your stuff and putting his stuff online as a response because he’s afraid to address, you might take that relationship to a new good level.

My $.02 for what it’s worth. Which isn’t much, as you probably have more in your couch cushions.

Ben, not a possibility–he’s not on Jdate. He’s just not that interested. But it’s cool, because I still didn’t know how interested I was–longterm–either.

Randi, I usually just bring them into my office. My coworkers get the goodies. I’d love to sell them, but when I sat down and did the numbers, I realized I’d have to sell huge amounts to a) make it worth my time and b) make any money. But I would love to open a bakery.

is that Bethany’s Randi??????????? Or a different one?? If it is Bethany’s Randi: Hiya honey. How are things going???

Hil, maybe one of your blog readers is a venture capitalist and wants to invest in a bakery!!! Maybe…………………any bites??? I would invest some, too!! Let’s seee…..hmmmmm……

I’m not convinced he’s not that interested in you. It seems like he doesn’t want to be exclusive and wants to date you and other women. Maybe that’s immature. Or maybe he isn’t ready to go exclusive with you.

Maybe you’re right and he’s not that into you. Don’t make a decision about him based on “going through his drawers.” Find a non-accusatory way to ask him. “I was looking on Craig’s List and decided to look at ads just to see what was up there. And you had a new one.” Nothing more.

I’m still on J-Date because PW and I just aren’t there… yet.

Good advice Dave. May I ask who PW is. You have mentioned that before.

Hills -

You should open a bakery then! If you visualize yourself opening a bakery, then it will happen. I am a big believer in the power of Visualization. I am like Oprah that way. So, what is stopping you? Take out a small biz loan! (I started my own biz and I am doing pretty well!) Hollywood could use a fantastic cupcake bakery. Why should Bev Hills and Burbank have all the fun? Trust me — you would be A Huuuge Hit. Just Do It! (I personally think somewhere on that strip of Old Jewish Farifax would be a swell place for a hip, cupcake bakery.)

Now, where is this office? I want a cupcake! :(

Did you see that Josh who won beauty and the geek is Jewish?

Mom, PW is the woman from J-Date that I’m “dating.” The whole story is on my blog. People read it but rarely comment. I’ve had it for seven months and in that whole time I’ve had less comments than H has on this post.

Sorry CL has turned out to be such a disappointmnt. You deserve better. I would move on and not look back.

Love the pink border on that cupcake. It looks yummy!

Sorry about CL guy. :(

As for those cupcakes, they look great! I wish I had piping skills like that.

I second the comments that say you should start a bakery. I hate Sprinkles, so I’m lamenting the lack of good cupcakes anywhere but Burbank. Maybe you could start a place where we can all bitch about JDate and enjoy some dessert. Heck, I’ll be your first employee!

Eve

Sprinkles sucks. Hil, in 2 weeks when I’m off this “diet” I need to try your cupcakes!

Dear CL guy,

If you have time to post two ads on CL, you have time to have a beer with a woman who has alredy gone out of her way to get pretty for you.

Bite me!

DON’T take out a small business loan! I did, and it tanked! Finding a VC is a much better idea. I wish I did (I do, however, believe in visualization…).

Every time I see your cupcakes I get the biggest craving for desert. If you opened a bakery I would for sure go there…even if I am only in LA once a year.

As far as CL guy. You’re over him…and so am I. He sucks!

Esther-I just read your post. I LOVE The Sweetest Thing so much that I own the DVD. I’ll make sure the girls see it, or we can save it for the next time you come out to the west coast…

OK, fine. I’ll be the one to ask: what’s a “dragee”? BTW, love how your mom & your sibs catch up with each other through comments.

Hi Barbara (btw, my mom’s name is Barbara), dragees are those little sugar balls used to decorate cookies. The silver ones are illegal in California, so I’m relying on my NY buddies to buy me some contraband and mail them to me.

nancy

March 14th, 2006 | 2:43 pm

bad news! its illegal in ny as well. they’re made out of mercury, did you know? lol. i didn’t until i tried to buy them on the upper east and the bakery woman told me the deal. sorreeee…
