What Have You Read Lately? (Part III)

Because I got so many wonderful responses the last two times I asked for book suggestions, I thought I’d ask again. Have you read any good books lately? If so, what were they?

Also, if you read a book that someone posted about in the comments in part one or part two, let us know!

Replay by Ken Grimwood. It’s about a guy who lives the past 25 years of his life over and over and over again and how he does things differently each time and how it affects his world. It’s really interesting.

Early Bird: A Memoir of Premature Retirement by Rodney Rothman. It’s the true story of an LA TV writer who decides to try retirement early & moves into an old folks’ community in Florida. Quick read, very funny, and leaves you with an interesting outlook on life.

Girlfriend in a Coma, by Douglas Coupland
Never Let Me Go, by Kazuo Ishiguro

These are absolutely the two best books I’ve read this year.

The Pact by Jodi Picoult. I finally got with the times and joined a book club and this was their selection. It was really good!

I’m reading the Chronicles of Narnia right now. When I’m done I plan to start Million Little Pieces (like Bethany).

I’m normally a fiction gal, but I loved Freakonomics. Ooo, and I just looked back and saw Marissa read it, too. I despise the Yankees, but loved this book.

I just finished Wicked by Gregory Maguire and really enjoyed it. Also, I was recently turned on to the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. I don’t usually enjoy detective novels, but these are funny and clever, and Stephanie’s grandmother is a riot.

I am also usually a fiction gal, but I, too, loved Freakonomics! And I loooove Jodi Picoult. Currently going through Kate White’s books.
