Thursday Things

Dating: I have three potential good blog posts dates coming up:

Date #1–A possible blind date set up by none other than Sick Candy’s own Meg.
Details: He’s a Valley boy and get this–a comic.

Date #2–A Jdate.
Details: He’s a former attorney and now works in media.

Date #3–Said two words to him at my friend’s party on Saturday night. He apparently called her to say I caught his eye.
Details: He’s the one that got my friend going to AA meetings in the first place. And um, yeah, he’s a comic. He’s not Jewish, so I don’t think I’ll go out with him, but it was flattering nonetheless.

Baking: In case anyone thinks I didn’t bake enough last weekend, I get to do it all over again for Yom Kippur. I may be tired, but I’ll have a good sugar high going when it comes time to break the fast. And in case you were curious–the favorites seemed to be the black and whites. I’m going to double the recipe this time.

And in other baking news, I’m going to try a new recipe for buttercream frosting. This one claims to look and taste like the bakery kind. And I loooooove bakery buttercream frosting.

Movies: I can’t wait to see In Her Shoes.

Friendster: What gives? Now people can see I viewed them? Hello? Ever hear of Friendster-ing exes?

Flickr Pro Account: Worth the money or waste of money? Anyone have one?

Good luck on your dates!
In the spirit of Rosh Hashanah, I suggest that you reward each date with a HilaryCake (TM) - but do save the black&white cookie for a 2nd date :-). And for the next Rosh Hashana, may you enjoy an extra pair of hands for the double chocolate cupcakes with extra buttercream frosting!

I’ve realized that your witty and sincere blog is well worth $2/month. And how awesome for us would be to get a photoblog for the new year. No limits on your visual experiences to share! Have fun with your new FlickrPro account.

Happy Holidays!

In New York, do you know what “former attorney who works in media” generally means? That’s right: comic. You go girl. At least people are setting you up with guys who are (purportedly) funny…

I loved In Her Shoes. Almost as much as I loved the book..which is saying a lot for me.

I think you should give date no. 3 a chance. Although a few points should be deducted since he didn’t have the sense to get your number at the party.

Good luck with the dates. I still think it’s super-cool that you made your own B&Ws. I just might take you up on your offer…

So excited for the prospective dates, Hilary.

And I am with you about buttercream frosting from a bakery. Complete heaven. I used to work in a bakery when I was in high school and I would sit and eat frosting by the bowl full! Yum.

P.S. I just mentioned you in my latest post. You will forever remind me of cupcakes. Yum.

In Her Shoes! What a great cast. Have we ever hated Cameron Diaz in a “bad girl” role? She did a great job, along with Toni Collette and the amazing Shirley Maclaine. There were so many touching moments — you gotta love any movie that makes you both laugh and cry. The characters were so real . . . I’m still a little concerned for Maggie May.

In Her Shoes was terrific, and the Flickr pro account is absolutely worthwhile.
