Katrina
I haven’t been avoiding this topic, I just, well, haven’t really known what to say. It’s horrible. Sad. Disgusting. And makes my dating woes seem so trivial and puts life into perspective. For the past few days, the only TV I have watched has been TiVo’d, because I can’t bear to look at the images anymore.
So…how to help. I made a donation to the Red Cross through my company who is matching double all employee donations, a very kind and surprising gesture. I also donated through the Los Angeles Jewish Federation.
If you’re in San Diego and want to donate goods that will go to some of the 30,000 people relocated to the Astrodome, the San Diego Jewish Academy is collecting:
- New and gently used clothing (sorted by gender)
- Blankets
- Diapers, Baby Formula & Wipes
- Over-the-counter Medications
- Personal hygiene products
- School supplies
- Paper Goods
- Cleaning Supplies
- Single-serve food items that do not require refrigeration (non-perishable)
- Gift Cards to Super Stores (Wal-Mart, Target, Sears, Costco, etc.)
Here’s more information. (It’s a PDF.)
