July 4th Weekend Wrap-Up

This weekend, I:

  • Drove down to San Diego with my sister in near record time–one hour and forty minutes–on a Friday night. And back to LA today, also in record time.
  • Had lunch with JAB and her boys, who are growing up way too fast.
  • Saw Batman.* By the way, am I the only one who thinks the first 45 minutes totally lagged?
  • Had sushi with my family.
  • Had brunch in downtown Del Mar then hit Banana Republic with the family. I got pants (in beige), a t-shirt (in fuscia), and a silk/something cardigan/hoodie thing in pink.
  • Where I spent my July 4th

  • Shopped at UTC and got shoes (in mint and tan) and more shoes (in camel).
  • Saw Marty Levine and family at the mall. [ed. note: unless you're from San Diego, this will most likely mean nothing to you.]
  • Had dinner at Pat & Oscar’s.
  • Watched Miss Congeniality 2.
  • Sat by the pool.
  • Bar-b-q-ed.
  • Watched at least five sets of fireworks from my balcony. I know for sure one set was from the Hollywood Bowl. The others were near the Grove (?), near downtown, and east of me. Totally cool.

As always, it was a wonderful weekend. Thanks for all the goodies mom and dad!

*Either I missed a scene, or something doesn’t make sense. How come all of the people who inhaled the hallucinogenic didn’t die or continue hallucinating forever? If you remember, Rachel needed the stuff that Lucius created to negate the hallucinogenic. How come everyone else didn’t?

Nice clothes you bought, but Del Mar? Look at the links you gave to bananarepublic.com. You could have gotten the pants for $13 less and the shirt for $30 less.

I’ve never heard of a Jewish woman who’s such a lousy shopper.

They were going to mass-produce the antidote Morgan Freeman created; it was only a small portion of the city who went batty since the day was saved. So they’ll be better in a couple of days.

Now THAT’S a geeky comment.

Ok, sorry to geek out, but I agree with Hilary on Batman’s gaping plot hole. Luicus said it would take several weeks to mass produce the antidote and in the meantime, a large portion of the city has been infected with the Scarecrow’s virus. They may not have hit the main water source in the city, but they did spread it to parts of town that the subway passed. Yet, the next day, the crisis seems to be averted. Wouldn’t there still be streets filled with crazy people?

Charlie, they…ummm….locked up the crazy people ’til they produced the antidote. Yeah, that.

Confucius says: The person who looks for airtight logic in a comic book movie will be doomed to an eternal quest with no satisfaction.

Confucius also says my lottery numbers are 3,16,22…

because Rachel was given a higher dose of the hallucinogen. and the scene following all the havoc was at Wayne Ent, when Fox takes over the company; that could have been the next day, or it could have been weeks later, when the antidote was given out.
having re-read that, i shall now bury my geek head in shame.

BATMAN was a good movie, but you have to take it for what it’s worth….did anyone see NATIONAL TREASURE? The story in that film had more holes than any other movie I have ever seen!!!! Mom & Dad, thanks for a wonderful weekend…and I still have claw marks from the dog all over my back!! Oy

Fear not, I won’t let a little swiss cheese in the plot get in the way of me enjoying Batman. I loved it.

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. It was great seeing you! You have motivated me to go shopping, too…I am going to hit the Banana Republic outlet today and see what I can find.

I haven’t seen Batman Begins yet (shame on me in my line of work), but I am really confused reading all of these comments and don’t know if I want to see it now!

Didn’t Batman stop the alien tripods from attacking us by using the antidote to the… I’m sorry, I’m getting my blockbusters all confused…

Hilary -

I know you’ve written before that you think Josh Duhamel’s (sp?) a hottie and I thought you might want to know that he’s got a little fashion spread in the current issue of GQ. Ya know, he is cute, but I’ll let you keep him.

Also, is anyone out there watching Blow Out on Bravo? Does anyone else want to punch Jonathan? He’s such a power-hungry whiny-butt.

Ooo, Care I’ll have to check it out. I just read that he and Fergie got engaged. (Boo! Hiss!)

I’ve never seen Blow Out, but I think my sister watches it. Bethany, do you?
