Thursday Things

Movies: A Pretty In Pink sequel? I am so stoked! I love that movie.

TV: Does anyone else watch Dr. 90210? I’m sorry, but how old is Dr.-I’m-A-Nice-Jewish-Boy-From-New-Jersey-and-She’s-A-Nice-Catholic-Girl-From-Kentucky-Diamond? Like twelve?

And in other TV news, how sad am I that the brothers lost on Tuesday’s The Amazing Race! I was hoping they would win, or at least stick around for a few more weeks.

And in sort of related to TV news, can someone please tell me what the green and red thumbs up/down buttons on my TiVo remote are for?

Music: Looking to check out some new music? Go see my cousin’s band, Crooked Fingers, at the Knitting Factory a week from tomorrow.

Jdate: I have a tentative date Sunday evening with Jdate #2, although I have to admit I’m kind of bugged by this “tentative” crap.

you just MADE M DAY with the Pretty in Pink news!!! THAT’S THE BEST!

The thumbs up/thumbs down function on the tivo work in a few different ways, but most notably they work best if you have allowed Tivo to make ’suggestions’ for you.

The more you tell tivo what you like (by giving a show a ‘thumbs up’ — once, twice or THREE TIMES!!), tivo will start finding similarly-themed shows and start taping them for you.

On the converse side, if you HATE a show, you must tell tivo by giving it the appropriate number of ‘thumbs down.’ and you won’t have to worry about tivo taping THAT show for you again.

most people i know have turned off the suggestions, simply because it ends up starting to fill up your tivo with unnecessary shows. but i have been turned on to a few shows thanks to tivo’s suggestions.

if your blog was a tv show, i would give you THREE ‘thumbs up’ on my tivo!!

I’m addicted to Dr. 90210, and I can’t figure out why. I think he is so arrogant and annoying and for some unexplainable reason I really like his wife. Maybe I just feel sorry for her for having married such a moron.

I am totally turned off by this Pretty in Pink news. I’m so sick of remakes and sequels and “reinterpretations” — especially of classic movies that should just be left alone. What, is there that much of a lack of talent out there that they have to go back to the well of previous hits?

Drew thank you! That would explain it…I have the suggestions turned off because when I first got it, it taped like 10 episodes of Cops and Judge Hatchett for some weird reason.

Hi all…
Drew you are so cute…I also would give Hil’s blog 3 thumbs up too.

Keith…yes, there is a great lack of REAL talent out there. Creative writers, really good actors are at a premium…hard to find. Even Broadway has been busy bringing back old musicals!!!!!! Is it all the drugs the baby boomers took…they lost their innate creativity and, consequently, their children are non-creative. However, some may argue that the drugs made them more creative. However, I do believe that most of the baby boomer generation was/is quite creative and that this may be the end of original creations for a generation or 2. What a morbid thought!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cops rules! When I was in graduate school, completely broke and watching roaches climb the wall, I enjoyed watching Cops and Jerry Springer, because they both made me feel better about my broke-ass situation.
